Application of the Product

 

Radioactivity detector RADEX RD1008 evaluates the radiological situation according

to the value of the ambient dose equivalent H * (10) of ionizing photon (gamma - and X-ray) radiation (hereinafter - the dose rate), the value of the flux density of beta- radiation (hereinafter referred to as the flux density) and acumulates the ambient dose equivalent of gammaradiation (hereinafter - the dose).


RD1008 uses two table sensors for detecting radiation (Beta-2 and Beta-2M).  While the cost of the device increased significantly due to the use of these sensors, they do allow this detector to detect and display radiation results for Beta- and Gamma- as two separate values. 

While the accuracy of the measurements obtained using RD1008 is in no way high enough to satisfy the strictest requirements for food safety measurements of the US FDA, Japanese Ministry of Health and Russian Ministry of Health -- it is astonishing considering that this device weights only 175 g / 6.2 oz (compared to the typical 10 kg / 25 lbs and above for an equivalent).

  • The measurement time depends on the dose rate. Increase of the number of measurement cycles leads to the increase of reliability of indications.
  • Time of continuous operation of the product specified for the battery with a capacity of 3100mAh, with the natural background level not more than 0,30 μSv/h, not more than 5 1/(cm2 * min), and factory settings of the product.
